NaKHHeeel...

The next day it was off to see another one of Dubai's real estate developer - Nakheel (pronounced Nakkkkkhhhheeelll * think evil villain with flammy sorethroat).

'Nakheel' means 'palm trees' in Arabic. I already gave it away what they famously built, right?

On the way there, we saw the Emirates towers:
Along Sheikh Zayed Road:

Dubai's Metro station (u/c) in the foreground:

Nakheel's portfolio of properties includes the Palm Islands (Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, Palm Deira), The World Islands, The Universe Islands and 'land' projects like The Gardens, Jumeirah Lake Towers and Dubai Waterfront to name a few.

Palm Jumeirah Islands:

That glowing 'building' is supposedly the Trump Towers (date of construction tba):

The Atlantis:

Next we were priviliged to take a yatch to the Palm Islands (a privilage solely reserved for potential buyers). Buyers of the properties (and islands) from the Nakheel Island projects include celebrities like Brangelina, the late MJ, Shah Rukh Khan, the Beckhams, and other BIG stars...

The girls being girls...:

The boys being real men - withstanding the heat:

This standalone island has been bought by one of the emirates' royalties:

The many apartment blocks (not your typical condos):

Titanic? ... No, just suakoo:

One of the many hotel resorts (Atlantis is just one of many):

There are HUGE villas at the end of every 'frond'. The villas are the only ones that can be designed according to the owners' preference and design; the designs of the other houses on the 'fronds' are restricted to 6 pre-designed templates:

Then it was back to the hotel room to escape the heat! Many of us were feeling sick from the weather...:
